Wine Description & Tasting Notes
Very limited release.
Kerner is the pride and joy of Astley Vineyard. Related to Riesling, these rare and special vines were planted in 1971. A unique English wine that warrants ageing, or simply savouring.
2022 was very kind to Astley Vineyard’s Kerner. Harvested at record sugar levels, this rich & aromatic expression of Kerner is both joyous and fascinatingly complex.
The 7 month fermentation, and an extra month on lees created a luxuriously textured wine that somehow managed to not overpower the primary fruit. The result is one of the best wines we think they have ever made.
Nose:Tangerine, Fresh apricot, Orange blossom, Ginger
Palate:Dry, rich and unique from any other English wine with age worthy levels of acidity that carry those spiced stone fruit flavours.
Enjoy on its own, or alongside rich north European cuisine (roast pork, mushrooms).
