Primitivo, a native varietal of Puglia, in the heel of Italy’s boot, is derived from the Latin Primativus meaning ‘early to ripen’. Genetically identical to Americas Zinfandel, italian Primitivo though is in general more elegant and less jammy ripe fruit than its american counterpart.
Nose:Elegant dried fruit with raisin, dark chocolate vanilla and coffee.
Palate: Medium- full bodied, fresh and fruit-forward. with a lovely depth of character and velvety tannins
Food Pairings: Charcuterie, tomato based pasta and pizzas.
